Milo is a rescue Chihuahua I adopted the weekend before my business opened in November 2012. He was about 1 year and 2 months old and came from a foster home in Little Rock, AR. I don't know his background prior to that, so I accepted him for who he is - a sweet but shy guy who loves to run up to say "Hi" to people but is very skittish about letting someone touch/pet him. He prefers that you just put your hand out so he can sniff it (if he feels like it) and not to wiggle, shake, or otherwise flap your hand(s) at him or he will run away. He also is most definitely not like the breed - he is more like a cat and prefers to keep to himself, even with me, and doesn't like to cuddle, snuggle, or be picked up or held, even by me, for very long. Let's just say Milo tolerates me holding him, but not for long.

 

I never know who Milo will take to and who he will not, it's his choice to decide whether he wants any attention or affection from you. If he does, then please, do not be rough with him. He prefers that you just gently rub his ears and around his face, but not his body, unless, of course, he is okay with it, and believe me, you'll know right away if he does or does not approve of it :-).
